Impact Damage Detection in Laminate and Honeycomb CFRPs using Lamb Wave Ultrasonic Sensing

Abstract The paper presents the results on application of Lamb waves based technique for impact damage detection and severity identification. PZT network operates in round-robin mode changing actuator sensor roles transducers order to detect response system presence damage. monitoring is performed via analysis three parameters: change amplitude (dA), energy (dP) cross-correlation (NCC) signals baseline damaged state. Testing laminate CFRPs shows that location estimated with an error 5–15 mm, while computed Damage index linearly dependent applied energy. For honeycomb NCC parameter do not provide accurate results, however, other parameters allow identification within 5–20 mm reflect data
